HISTORY TIMELINE

  • 1953 - Founded as New Life Boys Ranch by the late Mr. Walter Haman Sr., a member of the US Secret Service, assigned as a Presidential Bodyguard
  • 1979 - Name changed to New Life Youth & Family Services to identify the broadening outreach to boys, girls, and their families
  • 1981 - Foster Care services began, including Family Special treatment
  • 1984 - Built J. Curtis Weigner Building for Occupational Skills Therapy offering vocational training in five occupational areas
  • 1986 - Constructed an athletic complex that includes soccer and baseball fields
  • 1989 - EAGLE House, independent living for 16-18 year-old boys
  • 1993 - West Chester Day Treatment facility began providing alternative educational services for male/female adolescence
  • 1996 - ForeFront Program in the West Chester area began serving children in their own home  
  • 1999 - EAGLE PROGRAM (Extended Alternative Group Living Environment/Independent Living.  This program prepares young men for independent living
  • 1999 - Visitation Program in Chester County began, family visits organized for children who are placed in out-of-home care
  • 2001 - Educational services for Pyramid clients, a coed residential Drug & Alcohol Rehab facility for adolescence located in Quakertown, PA
  • 2002 - Truancy Prevention Program, provids counseling services to children who have been identified by their school districts as having attendance difficulties
  • 2005 - Residential Program begins to provide mental health services through Medical Assistance funding
  • 2008 - Family Group Decision Making started
  • 2009 - Girls' Residential Program started
